What is Ponderoku?
Ponderoku is a planet covered in pine forests. It started out, however, as a fake Christmas tree in a young boy’s basement bedroom.
Where did the word Ponderoku come from?
Ponderosa pine + shinrin yoku = Ponderoku
The young boy’s favorite conifer was the ponderosa pine, prominent in northwest Nebraska where his family vacationed from time to time.
The Japanese idea of shinrin-yoku embodies the boy’s appreciation for the outdoors, for maintaining an active lifestyle, and for taking the time to pay attention to your surroundings.
Why are comments turned off for this blog?
Part of the purpose of this website is reflection. Removing the opportunity for knee-jerk reactions will hopefully encourage deeper consideration of the topics. Besides, there are already thousands of other places on the internet people can troll, rage, or share photos of their dancing cats.
Who is the author of Ponderoku?
His name is less important than the content posted here (he hopes). Suffice it to say
– He’s lived in the middle parts of the United States all of his life.
– He studied architecture and fine art in college, graduating with a B.F.A.
– He’s a family man.
Why aren’t things the way they are supposed to be?
Other than what should be obvious to anyone who takes the time to pay attention to their surroundings . . .
. . . The aforementioned author is a Christian man who believes – after continued research and thought – that God created a perfect world, that human selfishness screwed it up, and that God will restore it.
